Beauty and the Beast has been one of my favorite childhood movies of all time but the live action version just didn't do it for me. It could have been their casting choices or the fact that the animations just felt weird but it just didn't feel right to me. The movie followed the storyline of the cartoon perfectly and I had no problem with that part of it. My three main criticisms would have to be one the new songs that were added just felt weak compared to its other musical masterpieces like Be Our Guest, Beauty and The Beast, Gaston, and Belle. The new songs just didn't match up with the older ones. And I was surprised to hear them. My second criticism would have to be about the ending scene when the mob is storming the castle. It was anticlimactic and some of my favorite scenes were removed. I was hoping for this big fun battle like in the cartoon but it just didn't translate into a live action version. My last criticism would have to be one that I and many others have had since the cartoon version. The big reveal of the prince at the end of the movie. A lot of people say that the beauty budget was wasted on Belle in the cartoon version of the movie when concerning the Prince's human form reveal. In the live action version, I spent the entire movie hoping that I wouldn't be disappointed once again but unfortunately I was. The only difference between the prince's looks in the live action and cartoon is in the cartoons Prince and Beast were equal in the looks department and in the live action, the Beast looked better. But overall the movie was okay. It wasn't above or below my expectations.
